Study Analysis: Breast Feeding vs. Formula Feeding and Overweight Infants Abbey Gunderson Florida Gulf Coast University Abstract The study Exclusively Breastfed Overweight Infants are at the Same Risk of Childhood Overweight as Formula Fed Overweight Infants, investigates whether exclusively breastfed overweight infants have the same risks of becoming overweight in childhood as overweight infants who are formula fed. This study found that exclusively breastfed infants who are overweight encounter the same risk of becoming overweight in childhood as infants who are overweight and formula fed. Therefore, researchers emphasize the importance of preventing overweight in infancy regardless of the feeding type (Vrijkotte, Altenburg, and Gademan, 2015).
